There are millions of toys out there. Probably even more then that with new ones being created all the time. We are drowning in frivolity. So why is American Girl creating a doll with a back story that she’s homeless?
It’s a children’s toy. Shouldn’t it attempt to be somewhat uplifting? Not to mention the doll is $95! I couldn’t fathom buying a doll that costs that much. At what point is a doll not a doll, but a collector’s item? I wouldn’t want the kids to actually play with it because I’d be worried that the resale value would drop.
